March 10, 2015 – Summit, NJ. After thorough review of the needs assessment prepared by TechAide, the Board of Directors of SBIG has approved the budget and plans to add an EDULab and library at a fifth school, the Offinso Orphanage school in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The orphanage has about 450 students, including 100 orphans, who will utilize the facility on completion. Additionally, there are two neighboring schools with combined enrollment of 530 students who will benefit from the facilities. Eighteen low-voltage desktops with internet capability, supporting equipment, furniture and books will be installed. Also approved were funds to repair and update systems at existing schools. A trip is planned for July 2015 to complete the set-up at Offinso and to visit the other four schools.
